There are no visitor accounts

You can read every public page without signing in, and there is nothing to register for. Accounts exist only for editorial staff, and the sign-in form is not open to the public.

What we store about companies

This site publishes information about companies, taken from the registries and filings listed on the data and coverage page. Some of that information concerns named individuals: where a company’s own filing states who holds an office, we record that person’s name, the office, and the filing it came from. We deliberately store nothing further about them — no date of birth, no address, no contact details — even where the filing contains it. If you are named on this site and want to query what is held, write to us at the address below.

Cookies this site sets itself

One, and only for staff: a session cookie after an editor signs in. It is HTTP-only, expires after seven days, and is never set for a visitor who does not sign in. There is no cookie for reading the site.

Cookies and data from Google

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, and Google AdSense to show advertising. Both are Google products and both may set cookies in your browser and receive your IP address and information about the pages you visit here.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve advertisements to you based on your visit to this and other sites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Google explains its own handling at policies.google.com.

Server records

Our servers count requests per network address for a few minutes at a time, so that sign-in cannot be brute-forced and so that automated traffic cannot exhaust the database. Those counters are discarded once their window has passed. Editorial actions by signed-in staff are recorded in an audit log, because a platform that publishes sourced facts has to be able to say who changed what.

What we do not do

We do not sell data about visitors. We do not run trackers beyond the two named above. We do not ask you for personal information, because there is nothing here to sign up for.
